Effective Poa annua control requires a proactive, program-based approach. Because Poa germinates over an extended window and is prone to herbicide resistance, a single application isn’t enough. A well-structured plan using a layered pre-emergent strategy provides the best chance at season-long success.
- Start early in late summer to target Poa before germination.
- Use a shoot-targeting pre-emergent like StriCore® to minimize turf injury.
- Layer or rotate chemistries to reduce resistance risk and extend control.
- Activate with light irrigation and monitor for breakthrough throughout the season.
